Dennis Smith - Wooden Wheels who also runs denS photos and has helped out this year with some excellent pics (like the podium shot on this race report's main page) took 1st Place Sport Master 1 in 1:41:53. John Williams - Bike Line Corporate had a great race and placed second at 1:44:01. Eric Krone - Guy's Racing was third finishing in 1:47:23.

The Sport Master 2 race saw Bob Perna - Bean's Bikes make it three in a row taking 1st place in 1:54:19. It was not an easy win as Bob just barely held off Randy Hitchens - Bike Line Corporate who crossed the line a mere 4 seconds later in second place. Going into this race Jac Frech - Tailwind was series points leader by only four points (329) vs Randy Hitchen's (325). Jac finished with a time of 2:00:49 in 3rd place which now makes for an exciting points race as they are both tied going into the last race (Fair Hill Classic August 21st) with 440 points each!

Clydesdale Race

Tim Messersmith - First Capital VeloWilliam Davis again took 1st place in the Clydesdale race with a time of 1:42:36. Brad Jones - Bike Line Corporate increased his one point series championship lead taking second place in 1:47:15. Former series champion Mark Fitzwater - Wooden Wheels again made the podium in 3rd Place at 1:47:15. These two racers have set the stage for an exciting race at Fair Hill as a mechanical problem on a single loop course could cause a DNF forfeiting the championship.

Single Speed Race

The usual suspects stepped up to the singlespeed challenge with the infamous Les Leach - Yards Brewing taking top honors in the no gears crowd. Les doesn't like gears or shocks......... but I think he's got a thing for speed.......... clocking in at 1:23:51, the fastest Expert Overall. Keith Goulet - Wooden Wheels finished 2nd in this group only one minute and 5 seconds back at 1:24:56. See Spot run........... Spot can REALLY run in the form of Marc Vettori - Spot Brand, the man who was the Godfather of the Wooden Wheels team for years but fell in love with the bike with no gears. Marc claims to be balanced and into his "family" now and is letting racing take a back seat.......... 3rd Place in this group with a time of 1:27:42 suggests otherwise but........... we'll take him on his word. Maybe he was just showing off since he had most of his family spectating.

Pro Race

David Duvall - Trek/VW East Coast was first overall & 1st Place Pro Men with an incredible time of 1:19:08. David is running at Clydesdale weight and opened up a large gap early in the race. Perhaps it was like a tractor trailer getting traction in the mud when lighter vehicles would tend to slip and slide. However, it may have to do with his expert bike handling skills and his Trek Fuel that never lets him down. David will now take the series championship lead away from teammate Chris Eatough who was ahead going into this race by only 35 points. Kyle Hammaker - Team Harrisburg had a great race placing 2nd in 1:26:39.

Caitlyn Tuel - Trek/VW East Coast rode a smooth, powerful race taking the lead early in the race. Caitlyn was unstoppable and opened up a gap by the end of the race of seven and a half minutes! Theresa Richardson - Cannondale braved the tough conditions and kept plugging along through the mud and ended up with a respectable 2nd Place at 1:41:46. I saw her on the last lap and was fairly tired myself from taking pictures. I said, "Having fun are we??" and she responded, "Yes, actually I am." Guess that's why she's a pro. Lacey Gonzalez - Shirks seemed to be having a tough time and ended up not finishing.
