Langhorne, PA – Trek/VW/JBL teammates, Chris Eatough and Kristine Oesterling, competed at one of the final Mid-Atlantic Series races held Sunday, August 25. The two raced successfully, both placing first in their category. Chris is preparing to defend his two-time World Solo 24-Hours Championship title next weekend in Silver Star, BC. Meanwhile, the Super Series race brought the Trek rider closer to the overall lead in the men’s pro/expert category. Here are some words from Sunday’s winner: All went smoothly at the Super Series race yesterday. I sprinted from the start to make sure I was first in the woods, and was able to ride steady from then on. Macinnis flatted near the end of the first lap, and still finished 2nd, less than 4 mins back from me, so he would have been close with no mechanicals. The course was mostly singletrack with some steep ups and downs, including one very steep uphill that they called a "run -up", although MacInnis and I were able to ride it. |

Here's a run-down of the women's race from Kristine:

We started about 15 minutes behind the top men's class, a fast start through some fields and then into the single track. I was sitting in 3rd. The course twisted and snaked through smooth singletrack and I think most riders had at least one close call with a tree (mine happened early in the race but I managed not to lose any major chunks of skin or clothing). There were a few very loose, technical downhills that made each lap interesting and had you way off the back of your seat. I think this race had the most logs I've ever had to cross in a race too! By the 3rd of 4 laps I was feeling good, put in a quick attack, and pulled ahead of the only girl left in front of me. Right before this, Chris Eatough passed me like I was standing still! He was on his final lap and seemed to have a pretty good lead. I managed to hold off the competition and win the women's category overall with no technical problems or major crashes. It was a fun day at the races and a successful one too! Thanks to all of our Trek team sponsors for the wonderful support! |
