Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

Not at all. I had a few beers the night before........pretty much the same routine...... I didn't do anything special. Just got in the car and drove down that morning.

Was the water crossing fun?

Yeah, that was a blast. Very refreshing.

What was your favorite part of the course?

I think I enjoyed the whole thing...... I'd say all the quick turns in the woods.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yeah..... I felt great. I felt just as strong at the finish as I did at the start.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

I passed my water bottle off to Erik Silva. He had dropped his bottle and we had like five miles to go and I passed him my water bottle and I didn't have another bottle..... I was going to take a GU but I couldn't because I didn't have any water. It was all right though...... I still stopped at the water station...... so ..... I guess it must have been more than five miles 'till the end.

When did you put the hammer down?

I guess I put the hammer down maybe a quarter of the way through the race. It was kind of bunched up at the start. I could see the leaders even though I was about ten guys back....... I could still see the leaders once we got into the woods a few hundred yards. I just kind of hung back a little bit....... a few guys dropped off..... and I stayed steady because you couldn't pass too much for a while. Then I passed another guy maybe a third of the way through and kind of put the hammer down....... and rode pretty steady and strong for the second third of the race........... When I caught Erik Silva I was pretty psyched about that because he usually beats me. I was trying to catch Mike Yozell towards the end so I put the hammer down again in the last third of the race.

Did you have any unusual problems?

Not really. It went very smoothly....... I didn't have any kind of problems.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

I was very happy with the way the race was run. I would suggest that if they wanted to combine pro/experts and just have one payout that they pay 8 or maybe 10 deep.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Thanks to Guy's Bicycles............
