How was your fitness level going into this race?
Good, but maybe not quite as strong as previous years at this time. I broke my
ankle back in November, so much of the winter was spent healing, recovering,
then re-building fitness. It's coming along, but I still have some work to do.
Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?
Reasonably happy. Brandon went out very fast, and Jed was on his wheel. I would
have preferred to be on Brandon's wheel to give myself the best chance of staying
in touch with the lead, but I had to work my way around Jed.
Were you strong from start to finish?
Yes, I had a good last lap. I brought 40 seconds back from the leader.
When did you put the hammer down?
On the last half lap I was able to increase the pace and surge for the line.
Did you have any unusual problems?
No.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Yes, we started right on time, and the awards were also timely.
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges
with competitors/spectators)?
We had a great cheering section (thanks Poz, Steve, Brian, Nicole and Allison).
Anything you would like to add?
It was good to get Camp Mack back on the schedule. I remember racing there
a few years ago and it is a great venue.
