How was your fitness level going into this race?
I guess it was pretty good since I have been riding a lot because of nationals
in Texas last month. Fixed gear miles are great.
Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?
Yeah, I like to get out in front early on.
Were you strong from start to finish?
Yeah, I felt better the second lap.
When did you put the hammer down?
On the long climb after the start/finish starting the second lap to make
a gap on Alex.
Did you have any unusual problems?
Nope
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Umm...yes it was sweet. My only complaint is the whole Junior X thing. I
would have liked a few extra miles. In nationals junior experts start just
after semi-pro, here we start with sport. I think this also discourages the
kids that would normally race sport. Other than that you guys do a great
job.
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges
with competitors/spectators)?
Coming through the transition area after the first lap I was leading Alex
up the climb and my mom had to hand us both fresh bottles so umm that must
have been weird for her.
Anything you would like to add?
Yeah, I'd like to thank my mom for getting me there, Cindy for letting
me borrow her jersey, and God for everything he's done for me. Swag tosses
are awesome!
