My fitness level was top notch to begin the season. My road bike and trainer kept me busy during the long winter. Yes. Entering the first singletrack section I was third, but stayed conservative on the water bars to avoid an early setback. I felt strong throughout the whole race. I paced the first lap, build up speed on the second, and pushed it hard on the third. At the beginning of the third lap I started to pass a lot of people. I think it pisses the vets and seniors off when they get passed by juniors, but hey, it's all part of the game, right? No, I did not have any unusual problems. The wait for the podium was endless, but it's understandable due to six protests. Aaron Snyder, Nate Campbell and I were battling it out at various times during the race. It's always fun to race against your buddies. Brett Carper was way ahead;no chance of catching him. I can't wait until Blue Marsh in two weeks...I wonder if the mud will be back...hmm? |
