Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?
No, I actually rode my mtn bike for the first time in months the day before. I just had a decent base from suffering on my road bike this winter.
Did you achieve your goals for this race?
Yes. I was hoping to win and I got lucky that things came together for that to happen.
Were you strong from start to finish?
This was my first race of the season so I was trying to pace myself. It worked out well and I had just enough left over to finish strong.
Don Morrison and Wissahickon Cyclery did a great job putting together this race and we thank them for their efforts. Was there anything that you observed that could be done better as the series progresses?
No, it was a really nice venue.
When did you put the hammer down?
The first lap and the last lap.
If you ran into these exact trail conditions again, would you do anything differently?
Probably not because there's not much that can help under those muddy circumstances! You just have to pray that your bike keeps working.
Did you have any unusual problems?
No, just shifting which I don't think was unusual for this course and the conditions! I was missing some bigger gears but managed.
How would you rate the course?
It was definitely fun but would've been a real fun, fast race if the course wasn't totally saturated. I hope the trails recover ok!
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Yes, they did a great job.
If you could do the race again - would you do anything differently?
No, it was a good day.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Thanks to Bill D. for this helpful web site. It's great to have a place to get quick information on local races, fellow riders, and the Mid-Atlantic Series!
