Joey Thompson

Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

I made sure I was pretty well hydrated.

Did you achieve your goals for this race?

Yes, my goal was to win, and I did.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yes, but it was hard to feel strong on the first lap with so many people going so slow.

Did you have any problems trying to get to the single-track first?

I got into the singletrack first in my age group, but then I was up with vets and seniors.

Were the riders courteous while passing in the single-track?

Some were and others were jerks about it.

What was your favorite part of the course?

Hopping all the logs.

When did you put the hammer down?

From the start.

Did you have any unusual problems?

I fell, split my chin open and ended up with five stitches, but other than that no.

How would you rate the course?

It would be a fun course to ride without so many people in front of you, crowding things up. It was also covered in poison ivy.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Well, it started an hour late and results took forever... so it could have been better.
