How was your fitness level going into this race?

My fitness level was where I hoped it would be but..

Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Yes, I wanted to be in the top 5 going into the single track and I think I was in 4th place.

Were you strong from start to finish?

No I think that my 2nd lap was the best lap.

When did you put the hammer down?

There was no hammer today for me.

Did you have any unusual problems?

No, I didn't have any mechanicals although I was anxious because a number of my teammates had major blowouts in the sport race. Jeanie Brevoort wedged her wheel between two rocks and almost ripped her wheel in two (it was quite a site)!

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes it was very well run. I especially liked when the race director asked to use my son's cash register to figure out the expert payout. Mountain bike venues are so cool!

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

Nothing crazy today but it was very helpful to catch up with my teammate John Thompson during the end of the second lap. We encouraged each other throughout the rest of the third lap and it made it much easier to keep up the pace.
